A Poem for the Dreamchasers
The dreamchaser smiled.
"But what if you fall?" they asked, voices low,
"Isn't it safer to go with the flow?"
She shrugged and she smiled and she went on her way.
She thought her next venture would change what they'd say.
They laughed and they scoffed, “Oh, what a dreamer.'"
She smiled, realizing they'd never believe her.
They rolled their eyes, "You would, wouldn't you?"
She smiled. If they could, then they would, too.
"Who do you think you are, anyway?"
She smiled and let their words drift away.
"You'll never make it," they jeered with disdain,
Her smile only deepened, deflecting their pain.
They scoffed and critiqued and had so much to say,
They simply could not keep their judgments at bay.
She smiled, recalling a memory deep in her
When she was like them, only then,
"You're so bitter!"
She held out hope they could change, too.
But this time she gave them some attitude.
"One day you’ll see," she said with a smile,
"Dreams are what make this life so worthwhile."
"You're full of disdain and it is not my doing,
Check on your pain, and stop all your brewing."
"While you judge from afar with such narrow view,
I’ll keep chasing dreams. Now watch them come true."
